Stone Forest Welcome to Kunming, known as the “Spring City” for its pleasant climate year-round. Upon arrival before 12:00, your guide and driver will meet you at the airport or railway station, then send you to your hotel for check -in.
Begin your journey to the famous Stone Forest, one of China’s most impressive karst landscapes and a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.
Take the sightseeing bus into the Greater Stone Forest, where towering grey stone pillars rise like natural sculptures. Walk along winding paths through the maze-like landscape and enjoy panoramic views from the higher viewpoints. You will also see several iconic rock formations, including the famous peaks often featured in photographs of Yunnan.
Continue to the Lesser Stone Forest, home to the well-known “Ashima Stone,” which resembles a young Yi minority woman. Your guide will share the local legend of Ashima while you explore the peaceful park filled with stone formations, ponds, trees, and seasonal flowers.
Overnight in Shilin County.
Honghe Hani Rice Terraces After breakfast, drive approximately 4 hours from Shilin County to Yuanyang, home to the world-famous Honghe Hani Rice Terraces.
Upon arrival, check in at your hotel before heading to the spectacular Bada Rice Terraces, one of the best places in Yuanyang for sunset photography.
The terraces stretch across mountain slopes from 800 to 2,000 meters above sea level, forming layer upon layer of reflective rice paddies. As the sun begins to set, the landscape changes constantly in color, shifting from silver and blue to gold, pink, and deep red. The endless curves of the terraces, illuminated by the evening light, create one of Yunnan’s most unforgettable views.
After sunset, return to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening.
Azheke Village Rise early this morning for sunrise at Duoyishu Rice Terraces, one of the most iconic viewpoints in Yuanyang. Surrounded by mountains and traditional Hani villages, Duoyishu is especially beautiful at dawn.
Next, continue to Aichun Village, known for its famous “Blue Rice Terraces.” Around mid-morning, the terraces reflect the sky so clearly that the landscape appears entirely blue. From the viewing platform, enjoy a stunning contrast of blue paddies, white clouds, and green forested hillsides.
Later, visit Azheke Village, a well-preserved Hani minority village surrounded by terraces and forest. The village is famous for its traditional mushroom-shaped houses, stone paths, and peaceful rural atmosphere.
In the afternoon, head to Laohuzui Rice Terraces, also known as Tiger Mouth Rice Terraces. This is considered one of the grandest and most dramatic terrace landscapes in Yuanyang and one of the best locations for sunset.
As evening light spreads across the terraces, the colors change rapidly from blue and silver to gold, pink, and crimson, creating an extraordinary natural panorama.
After sunset, return to your hotel for the night.
Jianshui Ancient Town This morning, visit a local ethnic market in Yuanyang, where Hani and Yi villagers gather to trade vegetables, fruits, handmade goods, livestock, and daily necessities.
Afterward, drive about 3–3.5 hours to Jianshui, one of Yunnan’s best-preserved historic towns.
Your first stop is Chaoyang Tower, the landmark of Jianshui Ancient Town. Often called the “Little Tian’anmen,” the tower dates back to the Ming Dynasty and is even older than Tiananmen Gate in Beijing.
Continue exploring Jianshui Ancient Town, a historic town with more than 1,200 years of history. Wander through old streets, traditional courtyards, and ancient wells while learning about local specialties such as Jianshui Tofu and Steam Pot Chicken.
Next, visit the Confucius Temple of Jianshui, one of the largest Confucian temples in China.
Tuanshan Village This morning, enjoy a memorable journey aboard the historic meter-gauge sightseeing train, one of the last operating narrow-gauge railways in China.
Board the train at Lin’an Station and travel through peaceful countryside landscapes toward Double Dragon Bridge, also known as Shuanglong Bridge. Built during the Qing Dynasty, this elegant 17-arch stone bridge stretches across the meeting point of two rivers and is regarded as one of China’s most beautiful ancient bridges.
Continue by train to Tuanshan Village, a traditional village dating back to the Ming Dynasty. Known for its well-preserved architecture and historic residences, Tuanshan offers a glimpse into rural life and merchant culture in old Yunnan.
After the tour, drive back to Kunming. Upon arrival, transfer to the airport or railway station for your onward flight or train departure.
